Experimenting with Summer layering-I picked up this vintage blouse at Assembly LA-its the perfect lightweight button down in a dreamy peach tone. I love the contrast between sheer and solid fabrics, and was determined to, as Tim Gun would say, “make it work”.

my first Ted Talk (if I were invited to give one)

Why I want to give a Ted Talk:

I would be thrilled to be invited to give a TedTalk . I’ve watched at least a hundred of these on the Internet and each of them has changed me forever in a good way!  The three that I’ve watched at least 5x each are by Tavi Gevinson on female role models, Susan Caine on why the world needs introverts , and Tony Robbins on why we do what we do .  I now realize I’m not crazy and my brain is working exactly as it is supposed to, thanks to these forward thinking and brilliant speakers!

What would be the subject of my Ted Talk:

Bullying is the number one thing on my mind today.  It is a subject stirs my anxiety and gives me heartache to know that there are kids out there in the world who are currently suffering just as I did more than a decade ago.  When I was in middle school, my fellow classmates bullied me mercilessly and called me names such as “animal” because I was a little disheveled (I hadn’t learned the art of fashion yet) and “dimental” as a play on my last name (Dimesky).  I never told a single sole: not my parents, my teachers, my friends, my brother, nor anyone at all.  I simply suffered in silence, all alone, soaking my pillow every night with my tears.

How could I help someone with my Ted Talk:

In my talk I would tell my audience how important it is to reach out to every child you know and to talk to them about bullying.  I would tell them to spread the word how important it is to stop the cycle and there is no reason for anyone to suffer the humiliation and lowered self-esteem caused by this cruel phenomenon.  I would show them the video by Barack Obama, the president of the United States, who claims it is unequivocally wrong, not to be tolerated, and that we must all work together to stop it. I would fervently address my audience and ask that they pledge to take a stand and become an advocate for kids who are victimized and need the help of an adult who has the power to do something.

I would finish my Ted Talk with one of the most beautiful and compelling anti- bullying poems ever written by Shane Koyczan. Before walking off the stage, I would tell everyone to contact me if they know any child who needs someone to talk to.  It will be my pleasure to be that powerful voice which I had never known.

What I would wear and why:

Since this talk is extremely important and includes a call to action, I want to present myself as both an empowering and feminine woman.  To achieve my look, my shoes should be black with a low heel.  The shoes will help me to look steady, grounded, and unwavering as I speak.  My choice for a skirt is a long ivory midi to represent my feminine and classic side.  A long sleeved black or ivory buttoned down blouse with collar (still searching for the perfect one) will be the final piece!

Would you ever like to give a TED Talk?  What were your experiences as a child? Were you ever bullied?  What subject would you choose for your TED Talk?  Is there anyone you would like to help in dealing with a difficult situation?  Let’s hear your point of view- please leave a comment!

With Summer being right around the corner, our desert heat is starting to become a lot more apparent. I always find myself wearing something easy and manageable for my busy girl-on-the-go life. This dress has become my go-to dress when I’m feeling hot and lazy, but I love to add some sneaks for a slice of fresh pizzaaaaz!

I like wearing this closet staple always with a splash of color-the lipstick I’m wearing in this post is Chanel Incandescent…it’s one of the only “fire engine reds” that’s truly done right.

Love,

Lauren

Hey guys!

I got bored with my clothes again (as most of us do)-but when I dedicated a good hour to go through my wardrobe  the other night, I found two pieces that I thought I  had lost for sure…so, I basically was like-cool, I’m gonna throw these two pieces together and see what I get! Ha! I am pretty pleased with my new makeshift lace bodysuit thingy! Woo hoo!!

P.S. for a neutral look-try adding some bubble-gum pink accents to your look…its super fun and fresh, and totally makes your whole outfit pop!

Hope you guys are having a great Thursday!

Love,

Lauren

My true personality really comes through with the way I dress myself-this skirt had my name written all over it because it reminded me of my childhood ballet days and the countless hours I would spend dreaming of being on stage as a Sugar Plum Fairy.

This skirt has been in my closet for ages, but I always like to bring it out when I’m in a playful mood! Sometimes throwing an unexpected shoe with a feminine silhouette changes the whole vibe and you can really learn the art of recycling what you already own :)

Try to re-use one of your all time favorite pieces at least twice this week! You’ll be amazed at the results you find with limited resources :)

One of my favorite parts of living in Southern California, is the fact that cut-off shorts are 99.9999 percent possible all year round. Our impromptu  heat waves throw us through loops sometimes, but we can always conquer through the lightest bleached denim & wispy tops!

What is your heat wave must-haves?

If you are ever in LA, I highly advise checking out the Isabel Marant store on Melrose Place. Not only does the inside of the store look like a light airy treehouse filled to the brim with all of her whimsical parisian designs, the store also offers a beautiful succulent garden engulfed with dark toned stones to balance out the luscious greenery- yes, Melrose is a shopping destination, but if you want to get inspired by all  the amazing architecture “eye candy” you surely won’t be disappointed!

I am going to be starting an event calendar of fun trunk shows/blowout sales in the LA area-so please be sure to check back soon!

Styling tip: Try a super loud color this summer-pair with a neutral top or vise versa (either a cream, beige, or soft pink) for a balanced look. I just loved how the electric blue stands out with a calm milky/cream on top!

I know we all have our “safe” color palettes that we usually stick to-mine is 99.9 % all black-but I challenged myself to add more bright into my closet and I am loving the results!

What are your go-to colors and why?

(Red Valentino dress & Delvaux bag)

When I get dressed in the morning I want to be comfortable but still be polished. I am finding a low heel much more desirable lately-especially with all my summer dresses. I think every girl should own some type of MaryJane-they are timeless, playful, comfortable, and give a parisian vibe that I’m totally into right now.

What is a shoe staple in your closet?
