One of my wisest and most practical purchases to date…..a silk jacket. LA doesn’t have much of a winter, and no matter how many times I attempt to wear some sort of fall-ish coat in our 80 degree winter days, I always end up bummed and annoyed (suuuuuch a annoying problem right? JK my East Coast readers). In conclusion, bundling up in my winter gear is only possible in my living room….in front of my freezer…or, only when I crank the AC down so low that it feels like the arctic. Yeah, no fun.

I have given up on purchasing any sort of outerwear whatsoever. This silk god of a jacket from Emily Current & Meritt Elliot’s new label, The Great, has answered all of my prayers…light enough to get me through an 80 or possibly 90 degree day, and to also keep me toasty when it drops below 70. Stoked.

Had lunch at The Line hotel yesterday, and holy views! The Commissary is their restaurant set up in a green house on their roof, each side overlooks Hollywood & Korea Town-and was such a cool add-on to this understated chic hotel!

BTW, a little black dress is like a puppy- cute, comforting, and always loves you unconditionally-don’t forget about em’!

Opera National de Paris ballet flats

I love when I get the chance to make it over to the west side of my city – Main St. & Abbot Kinney Blvd are a MUST to check out when you’re in Santa Monica/Venice area. My mom and I grabbed a quick bite a Chaya in Venice, which is absolutely NOM (that is if you like asian fusion). After, we headed across the street to my favorite Venice boutique, Mona Moore, where I was lucky enough to score a pair of these legit ballet flats!

Here are the deets to my top Venice to-do’s !

CHAYA – 110 Navy St, Venice, California, 90291

Sun at a perfect angle, hot sand under my toes, and waves that lull me into the most calming siesta. The struggle getting to the beach from hollywood is real, but so worth it. I feel so cleansed!

(Banana Republic jacket, Reformation skirt, Rockins scarf, Isabel Marant boots)

I got dressed today in one of my favorite care-free looks-a simple, yet classic denim jacket, a pair of perfectly beat up boots, a multi-toned suede skirt, and one of my closet staples-a skinny scarf. One of my favorite things about fashion is that it takes you away to another place-like a fantasy land -you can dress how you are feeling each day, and no one can tell you otherwise.

Do you guys feel that your mood affects the way you dress? Tell me a story!

Love,

Lauren

P.S. *Don’t be afraid beat up your boots a little bit! The more worn in, the better!

(Acne Studios mock stud jacket/jeans/denim shirt & Isabel Marant heels)

In my opinion, one of the most important pieces to have is a moto jacket. Honestly, and this sounds kind of silly…but the excitement you get when finding your dream leather is the equivalent to all of your childhood dreams of Disney Land. Ha! But, seriously though….

After you find your dream moto jacket-short or long, loose or fitted, vintage or new…you will soon realize all of your combination possibilities with this new guy!

What to wear with your moto:

1. Wear a classic pump/wedge to elevate the look (think 90’s GUESS ads)

2. If you’re more of a laid back kinda gal- pair with black cropped trousers & a pair of VANS

3. Try adding a soft-blue chambray accent to the look for a eye-catching contrast

I’d love to hear your comments on what motos or leather jackets are in your closet!

Cheers to finding the perfect one! (if you don’t already have your perfect baby)

-Lauren
